In November 2010, I walked into Crossfit Orillia and began a journey to change my life forever. For most of my adult life I had resisted any attempt to lose weight and get in shape.  Inspired by the success of my ‘CrossFit’ sister Cathy, I talked to James Gordon and made the commitment to join the CrossFit program. From day one I knew I was in the right place. The workouts were geared to my fitness level, there was nutritional counselling to get me on track and the atmosphere was so positive.Today, when I look back at that first day, I am truly amazed by my progress – my strength has increased and I have lost 50 lbs. I have been tracking my progress and the results speak for themselves. There is nothing more satisfying than to achieve a personal best in a workout. Not only has my improved fitness helped with the day-to-day demands of my career as a Real Estate Broker, this past year I ran in two competitive 5k races.

The training staff at Crossfit Orillia and the members have been fantastic and I enjoy every minute of it. I am committed to improve my life one day at a time and Crossfit has been the catalyst. Previously, the term ‘athlete’ would not have been used to describe me. But now I am proud to say, “I am a CrossFit Athlete.”

CrossFit has helped me transform my life.  In early 2010, a change in my employment situation prompted me to consider joining a gym to lose a few pounds. I had never belonged to a gym before, so I set about looking into the various options offered in the area. It was discouraging because Iamintimidated by work out machines and it seemed everywhere I looked there was nothing but. Luckily, I found CrossFit Orillia and from my initial phone conversation with owner James Gordon, I began to think maybe this was the program for me. So, an introductory class was arranged and I was hooked.

I learned to skip rope, run, move my body with pull-ups, push-ups, burpees, squats, box jumps and more. I even learned Olympic weight lifting moves. In 8 months I shed 60 lbs. and went from being an obese couch potato to a fit, athletic person. My health has improved immensely and my self-confidence has soared. CrossFit is not just for athletes. It is for anyone.
