Not at all. In fact many of our clients never went to the gym because they didn’t like the traditional style of workouts that every other place does. The workouts are all scaled to your fitness level, and you start from the beginning.
Typical programs only focus on a limited number of physical skills, mainly strength and cardio. We take a more comprehensive approach and train in all 10 physical skills: Cardiovascular/ muscular endurance, stamina, strength, flexability, power, coordination, balance, timing, agility and accuracy. Being proficient in a few of these areas doesn’t make you fit. Being proficient in all 10….that’s world class fitness!
The classes last one hour. When you arrive, the day’s workout will be on the board including a warm-up routine, skill session to practice various CrossFit exercises, and the workout of the day or “WOD”. The trainer will work with the group (max 8 people) to ensure the exercises are being done safely, and “encourage” you to push yourself. The actual WOD averages only 15-20 min in duration, but it’s done at realatively high intensity.
Yes, personal training is expensive. Rates at the average “globo-gym” can run $50 and up for a single session, and that’s on top of your monthly membership. By comparison, our small group sessions provide the same level of service but the cost is significantly less. Add to that the fact that you will see dramatic results in a very short time. You can toil away for years at “the gym” for $20 per month and never reach your goals, or hang out with us for a few months and get into the best shape of your life.
CrossFit’s proven results have made it the training program of choice for the US Navy SEALs , NHL stars, and many police and fire departments throughout North America. Due to it’s scalability, CrossFit has proven to be equally effective for the elderly, kids and teens, housewives, amature athletes, martial artists…..anyone who wants to feel good and is willing to work hard.
Keep looking. We’re probably not for you.
